The Daniel Roth Brand of luxury Swiss watches manufactures its unique timepieces in Le Sentier, Switzerland. This is an exclusive luxury watch brand with a proud heritage of producing an impressive collection of exquisitely crafted limited edition models.
Founded by Daniel Roth, a trained watchmaker and master craftsman whose name was already familiar within the circle of discerning connoisseurs and sophisticated watch collectors, the brand first launched a timepiece, the Tourbillon Double Face, in 1989. This defining watch featured a mechanical hand-wound movement with date and 40 hour power reserve. Perhaps the most striking feature was the captivating hand-decorated movement with both dials visible through two sapphire crystals. The model was an outstanding piece of jewellery and its remarkable, unique case shape, the "double-ellipse" became synonymous with the brand jual jam tangan fortuner. In keeping with the philosophy of the brand, the uncompromising quality of materials and passion for detail through the use of hand decorated movements and dials, the Tourbillon Double Face was limited to 250 pieces.
A world first in the form of the fabulous Instantaneous Perpetual Calendar followed in 1998. A classic calendar mechanical timepiece will change the date, hour and day functions over a period of 3 to 4 hours, the Instantaneous Perpetual Calendar changes all three functions instantly. This rare, highly collectible complication was produced entirely in-house by the Daniel Roth manufacture, and is so detailed that only 20 models leave the workshop each year.
The following year, a celebration 10th anniversary piece the Papillon was unveiled. Featuring a patented design, this model had a jumping hours movement, the minutes indicated by two pivoting-head retractable hands mounted on either side of a central disc. The Papillon was true to the brand's heritage a limited edition watch and featured the now iconic distinctive case shape.
One highly exclusive and collectable Daniel Roth watch is the "IL Giocatore Veneziano" or the Venetian gambler. Inspired by the Carvaggio painting "The Cardsharps", this timepiece is itself a highly desirable work of art. It features a hand-painted relief dial depicting a figure which comes to life when the minute repeater lever is released. First the right arm of the figure, then the left arm pivot outwards to lift the cups revealing the dice combination beneath. The automaton of the piece can obtain more than 500 possible combinations, and because it is hand-painted, no two models are the same.
The Daniel Roth brand was acquired by the Bulgari group in 2001 and continued investment ensures that the company is able to develop its strengths as innovators with particular regard to the complication movement.
